Ahhh...

I must admit. I tried and I tried not to be in temerity. Alas, I can no longer resist. I miss my friends. I miss being in a great guild with ability to assemble groups easier. I'm here cause the best is here, and I wanna leech! JK. I need to get back into the ways of grouping and just having fun, this includes major raids, I'm here to help temerity.
Level 49 Paladin of Karana
I'm a halfling with full set of enchanted dwarven platemail. I'm currently camping lower guk, all of lower guk. I must say that the dead side is now mine, I'm even an ally to the living ones.

I'm currently trying to exping as fast as possible so I can group with all my old and original friends that my ranger had made, ideeyat savant (L48 ranger, retired). This is the highest level I ever taken a character, but I am well experienced in the dynamics of EQ. I can't wait to venture into the planes of power, once I get all my new friends in the planar status, I plan on owning other zones.

I consider my reputation a positive one. I have helped out many of the players who are level 60 plus on the server. I also help many of the newbs today. I'm in EQ and big guild for the support, I like to help others out and also get opportunity to form groups easily. I just wanna give nifurn and astivis a shout out to because I've been with them since the days of beta.
I know this may come as a shock to some, and others just don't know very much about me, but I feel I should post about why I want to join Temerity.

I was one of the early people who started playing EverQuest from beta. It was at this time I met with and played with many of my friends whom are temerity folk today. I can recall always bugging and exping with Nifurn since the early days, and not so much after he was twinked to level 65 and I switched to a different class (I didn't like my rogue so much after he was level 65). Truth is, a lot of the original Temerity folk knew me as Ideeyat, level 65 rogue. This was also the same time that I switched mains and started playing my ranger. Eventually, beta phase was over and EverQuest was released. I missed out on being invited into Temerity or being part of the plan because I was playing my new ranger instead of exping with all the other level 65ers in beta. Temerity grew fast during EverQuests fresh release. I also was denied to join Temerity because my reputation of pulling too aggressively (chain pulling, not giving casters time to get FoM, and tanks maintaining 80% health, yes I am aggressive).

Most people in Temerity know me from my grouping with them in paludal caverns (chain pulling bandits), or grouping in HHHK (chain pulling the gobby basement). This was full of non stop action and hardly anytime to breath let alone med to FoM. This probably gave all the people I grouped with a whole new understanding about class balancing, medding, and how to efficiently play your character. Our exp grew fast, and our levels eventually leveled off. Truth is, most people know my style of play from the early days of grouping in paludal or HHK.

Others know me from just my kind favors I have done for them. I still remember giving some people 30 plat so they can get themselves a full set of leather armor from their newb days. Also helping them do the fine antique ring quests, fine cut diamond inlaid masks, and just plain help with anything I could at the time. I typically find one person that is usually on at the same time I am, and I ask about what their doing and assist them in any way I could. I can say most of Dark Conquest would know me from this type of daily routine. I'd help them, simply put. This was also the type of activety that made Dark Conquest grow into the guild it use to be. Now most the people I took the pleasure to help have either quit EQ or are switching to Temerity. This puts even more of the reason why I'd like to join Temerity, because all those friends I made while helping them are now going or are in Temerity.

There are just two major groups that interest me, the ones I grouped with in the early days (as rogue, ranger, druid, now paladin), and the ones I took the time to help. These two groups would make up a good number of people in temerity today. I know the game is completely different then when I was in closer interaction with these groups. I want to join Temerity so I can once again group with those that know me. If I were in Temerity, I'd be in groups again with the people I enjoyed camping with. If I were in Temerity, I could help those fresh lower levelers and maybe get help from the higher levelers (people are great about returning the favor).

Raiding is something I'd be much interested in, but not so much at my "low" level. I am level 50 now, and I wanna keep this leveling momentum until I'm about level 62 or so. I don't want to spend most my EQ time at a "hurry up and wait" raid. I also understand raiding is not a requirement for being part of Temerity. I hope this won't be an issue, about me not raiding so much now.

I've also been in leadership position of Dark Conquest. I have also said things like, "Temerity trash" or "I'd never join Temerity", I can't deny these accusations. I also think this is "water under the bridge", but if it's an issue to the recruiters and officers of Temerity, my only defense to this is to "never say never". Things change in EQ, people change, guilds change, and Temerity is not what it use to be when I said these such things. I also just look back at these times and chuckle.

I would like to get more exposure with Temerity, so I am in complete aggreement with being on initiate status. I would like to use the Temerity guild chat to make frequent groups, going to smaller raids, and just plain chatting with people of Temerity.
Id is by far the most helpful player I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. When I first joined DC he outfitted me with a complete set if Ivy Etched mail, he camped with me for hours in acquiring my Raincaller, and he took me through getting my Lodi Shield (including giving me the 1k pp to but it). He really does know this game well, often immediatly knowing the use of strange drops that we'd encounter while hunting. He is also a devoted trade skiller. This guy will make a signifigant addition to Temerity.

Aselm Aiel

One day in EQ - i found this book in Shadeweavers thicket. Had no clue what it was, so I clicked on it.

Poof - POK

"where am I" I say in regular say. Eventually I find this green Ideeyat guy sitting on a rock. Talks to me - tells me where I am - still had no clue what is going on. I have only met silvertooth in Shadeweavers.

Then he starts talking to all these people around me, and next thing I know- my trade window is open and there is 30 plat in it.

Then i get tells and explained how to use tells. He tells me how ot go to the bazaar to get the trader window up and buy a full set of leather armor.

Eventually I join DC beacuse this noob, Janribet, keeps sending Ideeyat tells for help.

And yes - i did experience his hard core camping'/pulling methods in lGuk- opened my eyes.

I love this guy- and I hope he becomes a good fit for temerity!

My Cuse went down like a Lead Zeppelin.

Most the people I have grouped with, helped with, and received help from, are NOW in Temerity. I can pretty much say that all my EQ friends are Temerity. That is what changed my mind. I miss my good crowd of friendly faces.
And to add a third question, why the hesitance? Don't be mistaken by the influx of former Dark Conquest members, this is unquestionably NOT Dark Conquest. The minute that it starts resembling DC is the minute I detag.

No offense intended to anyone that IS from DC, but people that are in Temerity have always considered the Dark Conquest approach to playing EQ convoluted and most often counterproductive (whine all you want that it was kill stealing or what not, Dark Conquest knew Temerity's tactics for both The Va'Dyn and Sevirilous and still continued to have significant difficulties with those mobs. Do we enjoy the company of others? ABSOLUTELY but every member of this guild has a common interest in discussing the strategy and the finer workings of the game) For someone that was an officer of Dark Conquest -- that believed in the guild's convictions and approach to play -- that NOW wants to follow friends into a new guild, be fully warned that your overpulling is nothing special (seriously dude, big whoop, we already have Tofu) and your bouncing character to character is a glaring red flag. So what, you've got eleven level 51s, this guild has 60 set as a GOAL. We're not telling you that if you're not 60 by the end of the month, you're getting booted. (I say this from lvl 57. I'd also like to point out that Hylas is lvl 46 at the time of this posting, and yet THERE'S a guy who can really play the druid and knows the finer points of the class... speed levelling is not the goal, it's about being committed to your class and sharing a common interest in conributing to OUR GUILD'S ULTIMATE GOALS... there is no space for strict soloers in Temerity... absolutely none). What I am concerned with is that who's to say the Paladin won't go the way of the druid when you decide that the Monk is the new Iiddeeyyaatt.

This isn't an attack, but even I, a non-recruiter who has had nothing but positive in-game experiences with you, am still wondering how well thought out your application is.

Edited by Adz 4/8/2004 7:22 PM (Most Recent)

I dont' think it is. He taught a lot of people how to play their class. he is talking younger days, making sure people didn't think they were all warrior/ melee

BTW - pot calling kettle black

My Cuse went down like a Lead Zeppelin.

Sure, but I've never professed that the same techniques that got me rejected from a guild are also techniques that made people step up to my level and learn their class.

Of course, I really doubt that overpulling would get anybody rejected, but I wasn't here in August, so I don't know who was calling the shots then, and how the shots were called.
